Zakira's Chili Cook-off

Get out of your winter cabin and mingle with other “car nuts” here in the Cincinnati area. Compete in the food contest, or just come hungry. Check out the attached flyer. They want us to R.S.V.P. so they can have a enough soda, tea, plates, etc. No lunch, dinner, or drive is planned for this day. The shop has cool cars ion various stages of repair all over the place. Their web site is www.zakiras.com. Use the QCC web site to register or e-mail Dale.

Thanks, Event Coordinator Dale (DLB55AH@cs.com)

The tour is for a maximum of 24 guests at a cost of $15 per guest (cash, please). In addition, there is a $50 fee for the guide and a $100 surcharge because it’s a Saturday. Parking is free on the A.S.M. lot or on the street. Afterward, we’re going to Camp Washington Chili for lunch. Please let Bobbi Ross know if you’re interested in joining us. As I key this, we have 11 people signed up on the GCMC website.

American Sign Museum ;1 330 Monmouth Avenue; Cincinnati, OH 45225

American Sign Museum is home to a visual history of American Signage from 1870 through 1970. Hand carved wooden signs, gold leaf, electric light bulbs, and neon all grace our walls and tell amazing stories, especially when told by our founder and avid collector Tod. Take a trip down memory lane and visit us in the Camp Washington neighborhood of Cincinnati!

Camp Washington Chili; 3005 Colerain Avenue; Cincinnati. OH 45225

Since 1940, Camp Washington Chili has been proudly serving ”chili-heads” from Cincinnati and all over the world from the corner of Hopple and Colerain Streets, in the heart of Cincinnati’s Camp Washington neighborhood. While our secret chili recipe speaks for itself, there are other ingredients that help make Camp Washington Chili the premier chili parlor in Cincinnati. Thank you for your patronage. We look forward to serving you. Breakfast all day Saturday, Gyros, double deckers, burgers, and salads, and desserts too!

Holiday Party

Celebrate the holiday season with your favorite MINIacs—meet, eat, drink, and be merry!

The club will provide the main dish (probably sandwiches from Jungle Jim’s), plates, napkins, flatware, etc. Bring your own beverage and a treat or side to share.

  • white-roofed MINIs bring a side dish

  • black-roofed MINIs bring a dessert

  • convertibles and other colored roofs bring an appetizer

We will kick things off with an executive board meeting and monthly Motor-In, followed by food and fun. If you want to participate in the gift exchange, bring a wrapped gift valued around $25. We will decide at the party if we want to have a white elephant exchange (i.e., limited stealing or no stealing of one’s gift) or have participants pick a gift based on a randomly assigned number. A surprise gift will be raffled to raise some additional money for charity. Tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, 15 for $10, and $20 for 2 arm’s length.

The party will take place unless there is a winter storm travel alert.

MINIs & Miatas

The Greater Cincinnati Miata Club invites the Queen City Coopers to join our drive to Serpent Mound and lunch and an afternoon return along the Ohio River.   Details are below. (please register on the QCC web site).

Also Tim’s navigator!

We have had some beautiful top-down weather, so Tim and I drove.  We’ve put together a route that was originally intended to have us in Maysville, KY for lunch, returning on KY 8.  Some of the roads were pronounced as straight and boring, but the navigator enjoyed the scenery!

In any case, here are the details:

Meet 9:00 at Walmart on Chamber Drive in Milford.   201 Chamber Dr, Milford, OH 45150

Connect to US 50 east to Hillsboro, where we pick up OH 73 south/east to Serpent Mound – a drive of a little less than 90 minutes with no stops.  We have allocated 90 minutes exploring – $8 parking fee per car (paid in the gift shop), decent bathrooms, small museum, walkable path but the observation tower is being rebuilt and won’t be open until January or February ☹.  After visiting Serpent Mound, we will continue on OH 73 to OH 41 south, crossing OH 32 to Duncansville, where we will turn onto Wheat Ridge Road to Miller’s for lunch, again allowing 90 minutes.  After lunch, we will return to OH 41, taking it south through West Union to Aberdeen, where we will turn west toward home on US 52.  The whole route is about 160 miles.  We have designed a few “bail outs” at OH 32 and after Miller’s.

Notes:  Walmart in Milford has bathrooms.  Since the first leg is just about 90 minutes, there is no planned potty/gas stop.  There are restrooms at Serpent Mound and Miller’s, but no gas – SO – come with a full tank, empty bladder, and your FRS radio tuned to channel 7.1.
